We got up and headed over to Georgetown to meet with Pearse, the VP of JJUSA and have a quick tour of the Jeep Jamboree Headquarters.  The highlight of the tour was getting to see Mark A Smith's collection of old Jeeps and antiques, which includes the original Stage Coach that ran the Rubicon from the 1880's to the early 1900's.

One thing that has really been a treat on this trip is some of the people we meet along the way. One such couple we had the pleasure of meeting this year was Mark and Shan Williams, they have a 1947 Willys project of their own and they have been following our story and trip.  We had several conversations with them during the last few days as they made extensive efforts to coordinate meetings with the local media to help get our story and cause out there. Shan met up with us in Georgetown after we finished up at JJUSA headquarters and we then headed into Auburn to meet with one of the local Jeep clubs, Capital City Mountain Goat 4wheel Drive Club as well as two of the local TV stations. The thing that stood out to both of us is the genuine and giving nature of these two individuals, these are complete strangers to us yet they took so much time out of their schedules to follow us and help coordinate the meetings that would not have taken place without their efforts.  Since we couldn't hit the road on empty stomachs and there happened to be a Mexican restaurant within 100 yards so before we made our way north we had lunch with Mark, Shan and their 2 amazingly well mannered children.
We would both like to send our very sincerest thanks to both Mark and Shan for being the kind hearted people that they are and it was truly our pleasure getting the opportunity to meet and spend some time with them.

3:00 pm ... It's about 100F outside and we are on our way to Orville, CA where tomorrow we get to meet with Surplus City Jeep Parts. After that we head to the coast and get on the Pacific Coast Highway, which we are both looking forward to spending a few days driving on. After we meet with SCJP we don't have any scheduled stops or meetings so we are eager to get a bunch of miles behind us. Not that we are keen to get out of CA but it feels as though we haven't made much headway in the last few days.

4:15 ... Mile 1,209
We are in Marysville, CA which is about 30 miles south of Orville and the Jeep temp is pushing 220F so we have decided to call it a day and find a hotel.

TOTAL MILES TRAVELED TODAY:  74
