On our 2007 road trip the Pintle hitch had a tendency to bind up on tight turns and eventually it caused the hitch to completely pull away from the frame of our old Jeep Willys. It is absolutely fair to say that the most important part of one of the most important vehicles of the last century is the transfer case. If World War II was won by the "Jeep", than it was won by the gearbox that gave the Jeep four-wheel-drive - the Dana Spicer 18.  Novak was kind enough to provide us with a rebuild kit for our tired old 1948 Willys.  We will be highlighting this rebuild on our project page as well as providing a detailed review of their kit here (as soon as we get time to do it).

Misch 4x4 armrests are Jeep solid, very comfortable and serve as door pulls. Available to fit Jeep CJ, YJ, TJ, Rubicon and Unlimited models’ OEM metal doors without drilling. Simply remove the OEM door pull-strap. Install the armrest frame using the same screw holes. Install the cushion and adjust position fore and aft to suit. They are sold in pairs and the steel frame is made from 14 gauge steel and black powder coated. Cushion is textured black polyurethane. All required fasteners are provided.

Microsoft® Streets and Trips 2008 with GPS

There were many things along the 2007 Ultimate Road Trip last year we took note of, one of them being that we would have liked to have had a software program with us that we could download the current road information as we traveled. Another was that we felt having that type of software would have been a useful tool to route our trip with beforehand, this year we decided to get software that had maps we could use to get a little more info with plus, we wound up with software that would allows us to use one of our laptops as a GPS system, what we found was Microsoft® Streets and Trips 2008...

Easy installation with detachable basket. Holds more gear and cargo. 4 Door dimension 4' 9" Wide by 7' 7" Long 4" Tall, 2 Door 4' 9" wide by 5' 11" Long 4" tall Made of 1 1/2" steel tubing and the thickness is .065. Black satin hammertone powdercoat finish.  You can easily remove the hard top and soft top with out removing the rack. The 2 Door rack basket has easy to maneuver gas shocks on each side to hold the basket up while you put the soft top up or down. Only one person is therefore needed to tilt the basket upward allowing easy removal or configuration change of the soft or hard top.
