If there is one thing that should be on every adventurer’s list but many times is forgotten, is a good, well prepared and complete survival or emergency pack. Whether you are planning for a camping trip, hunting or fishing trip, a weekend with your buddies or even just a road trip, this is something that everyone should consider having in their vehicle. My philosophy is this….. “It’s better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it”.

Last years trip we had a good first aid kit with some other essentials packed in to go with it like the flash light, matches, knife, compass and a few other items that we were able to pack into the extra space of our first aid kit. Yet there were still things that we felt would be good to have along.  In preparation for this years road trip we went searching for what we felt would be the best kit out there for what we may need on our trip in any situation. What we found was ReadyFreddy.com®.

Ready Freddy® is a company out of California that makes a complete kit that is so ready for the trip that it comes in its own backpack. Weighing in at only 13lbs this kit has all of the necessity items to cover most situations in many different environments. When we received our package from Ready Freddy we were anxious to get the contents out of the box so we could take a look at this pack and judge for ourselves if this would be the pack that we had hoped it would be.

As we unpacked the box we were impressed by the quality of the backpack that keeps the “Emergency Preparedness Kit” together and ready for easy transporting. We continued to be impressed by the contents as we examined the individual kits one by one, surprised that if we wanted to add anything personal to the bags there was still room to do so. One neat thing about the individual bags is that the smaller bags have Velcro to keep them secure and in place on the pack. It made opening and closing the kit easy and we didn’t have to worry about everything hitting the floor or ground. Please visit www.ReadyFreddy.com for a complete breakdown of the contents of each bag.

In addition to all of the supplies and equipment that was included in the kit there is also a FEMA booklet as well as a Ready Freddy® users guide. This is the first survival kit that I have seen that comes with not one, but two manuals to help. If you weren’t a McGyver junky then these manuals could mean the difference in how you handle your situation if you are ever put in one.

Many times in today’s world we look at things that we have purchased or intend to purchase and we wonder where the value is, even the simple cost of living seems tough to keep up with at times. It is not often that we come across products that we can really feel that the price we paid for the items was actually a great deal; this is one of those rare finds. I would, without question recommend this kit to anyone that spends time outdoors or spends time traveling. There are so many reasons that an emergency kit should be included into a list of “have to take with items” and the folks at Ready Freddy® have taken all of the guess work out of trying to figure what to pack.

Ready Freddy also sent us an emergency flash light that plugs into a wall outlet.  Should the power go out we have a charged flash light ready to go in case we have to hunt for more lights and or batteries. Now we are prepared at home and for the road….. See you out there!
