Road Trip Route...
All of the towns and cities that we will be going through are noted in red. We will be scheduling as many events as we can in each of the towns/cities along our route. These events will be scheduled on a first-come-first-serve basis. For more details on scheduling an event send an email to all@jeepbrokers.com
As soon as events are officially scheduled, we will include a link to the town or city name with specific details on that event.
Georgia
From Cairo take the 112 to Camilla where we get on the hwy 37 NW to Newton and then on to Leary, Morgan, Edison. We stay on Hwy 37 for a few miles after Edison then go north on hwy 27.
Hwy 27 through Cuthbert, Lumpkin and up to Cusseta. At Cusseta we need to head east on hwy 26 to Buena Vista.
At Buena Vista we get on hwy 41 to Geneva, we will cross hwy 80; at this point the road appears to change to possibly the 36 going through Talbotton, Woodland, and Manchester.
At Manchester we will head SW for a short distance where we will head back north on alternate hwy 27. We will follow that north through Warm Springs, Greenville, Luthersville, Moreland, Newman, Whitesburg, and Carrolton.
At Carrolton we get on hwy 27 (we get off of the alt 27) where we follow to Bremen, Buchanan, and Cedartown up through Rome.
At Rome we go west to Tennessee
Tennessee
In Tennessee hwy 79 from Alabama turns into hwy 16 in Tennessee, follow it north and northwest where we will get on hwy 64 going west. We’ll take the 64 to Fayetteville, at Fayetteville we will go north on the 431 thru Lewisburg & continue north to the 412 heading west thru Columbia, Hohenwald, and almost to Linden. Just before Linden we will merge with the 100 and then continues as the 412 again thru Parsons, Lexington, and over to Jackson. From Jackson we will continue on the 412 to Alamo, after going thru Alamo we will get on hwy 88 going west thru Maury City and Gates before it connects with hwy 51 running north and south. We will head south on hwy 51 and should be able to connect with hwy 19 heading to Osceola Arkansas, along the way crossing the Mississippi River.
Arkansas
From Osceola we will head west, then southwest on the 140 through Lepanto and Marked Tree. At Marked Tree we should be able to get on hwy 14 heading west thru Harrisburg, Amagon, Newport. Past Newport we will intersect with hwy 167 heading north and south, we will take the 167 heading south for a few miles and connect with hwy 87 to Concord. At Concord we will cut over to Greer’s Ferry, Fairfield Bay and and Shirley, in Shirley we will jump onto hwy 9 headed southwest to Clinton. At Clinton we will take a short jog from hwy 9 south on hwy 65 where we will get on old hwy 16 which we will run thru the Ozark National Forrest heading west to Pelsor. In Pelsor we will go north on hwy 7 for a few miles until we can connect with hwy 16 again headed west, we will continue west on hwy 16 thru Fallsville, St. Paul, Elkins and into Fayetteville. We will continue thru Fayetteville on the 16 to Siloam Springs, there we will connect with the 412 headed west into Oklahoma.
Oklahoma
In Oklahoma we will stay on the 412 heading west thru the cities of Kansas, Chouteau and into Inola and then onto Tulsa where we will finally connect with Old Route 66 for the first time and will follow as much of it thru Oklahoma as possible making our way thru towns like Red Fork, Sapulpa, Kellyville and Bristow with short stops at attractions along the way. We will continue southwest on Old Route 66 thru the towns of Depew, Stroud, Davenport, Chandler, Warwick and Wellston as we approach Oklahoma City. After we are thru Ok City we will continue on more of a westerly route going thru the towns of Yukon, El Reno, Bridgeport, Weatherford, and onto Clinton. From Clinton we will journey westward towards Texas passing thru the cities of Elk City, Sayre and Texola where we will then jump into the state of Texas.
Texas
Once in Texas we will stay on as much of Old 66 as we can, Texas has about 150 miles of the road still left and accessible as frontage road and we plan to ride as much of it as we are able. From Texola Oklahoma we will work our way west thru the towns of Shamrock, McLean, Alanreed and into Jericho. As we make our way across the state of Texas we will go through Groom, Conway and into Amarillo. A town that is still recognized by the hit song “Amarillo By Morning” (that’s still the first thing I think of when I pass thru the town or see the signs for it). From Amarillo we continue our path west going by the towns of Bushland, Wildorado, Vega, Adrian and Glenrio just before we get into New Mexico.
New Mexico
In New Mexico our route may change up a little depending and varying factors such as time constraint if we have had anything happen along the way that may have put us behind schedule for one reason or another. From Glenrio we will have to brave the traffic on I-40 as we cross into New Mexico as well try to get to our exit where we can get off of I-40 and back onto Old 66. Just a few miles into New Mexico we will get off of the interstate at exit 369 and go north to access the frontage road on the north side of the interstate, will go left onto the frontage road and take it if we are behind schedule or having any trouble. If things are progressing well and we have plenty of time we will take the dirt (once paved) portion that was used in the 50’s for a stretch of about 18 miles from Glenrio through Endee to San Jon at roughly exit 356 intersecting with north and south hwy 469. From San Jon we will continue on the dirt (50’s route) frontage road at exit 356 south of I-40 (this is also where we would connect back if we had taken the paved route north of I40 back at exit 369) as we continue west passing exits 343 and 339. At exit 335 we will cross under I-40 and curve with BL 40 Tucumcari Blvd thru the town of Tucumcari. On the west side of town we will once again be forced to brave the interstate at exit 329 for 8 miles. To exit 321 (Palomas) and we will go south to the frontage road that we will take providing there haven’t been any rain storms that have the washes flooded. We will head west on the frontage road passing the next overpass (no exit ramps) where we will go thru a tunnel that crosses under I-40 that will put us on the north side of the interstate that will take us thru Montoya, at exit 311 we will have to cross the interstate where we will be back on the S frontage road following it where we will once again cross I-40 and continue along the rail road tracks thru Newkirk and Cuervo. Here we will have to get back on the interstate at exit 291 heading west unless we can catch the gravel road that goes south from exit 291 to hwy 156 where we will connect and head west to exit 277, at exit 277 we should be able to access BL 40 (Will Rogers Dr) into Santa Rosa. We will cross under I-40 at exit 275. Exit 275 is where we will leave Old Route 66 for good since the rest of the route has pretty well been replaced by I-40 and we will be moving too slow to stay on it for too long at any given time. We will continue on Parker Av thru downtown until we see the turn for hwy 54, that we will take to Vaughn. At Vaughn we will get on the 60 headed west to Encino and staying on the 60 we will go thru the towns of Willard, Mountaineer, and past the Salinas Pueblo Missions Ntl monument headed towards the town of Bernardo.
From Bernardo we will have to get onto I-25 headed south at exit 190 going to Socorro which will be close to 24 miles, passing the towns of La Joya, San Acacia, and Lemitar. At this point that should be the longest stretch of interstate travel we will have to contend with. At exit 150 in Socorro we will get back on hwy 60 headed west where we will drive thru the Cibola Ntl Forrest and thru the towns Magdalena, Datil, Pie Town (we will most definitely be stopping to see what they have to offer, and we have heard it is not pie) and onto Quemado. After leaving Quemado it is hwy 60 to the Arizona Border and into the Arizona town of Eagar.
Arizona
From Eagar we will get onto the 180/191 heading towards the town of St Johns, in St. Johns we will get on hwy 61 going to Concho, at Concho we will get on Alternate 180 for less than 5 miles where we will connect with the “Snowflake/Concho” hwy and take that all the way into where our journey will end on May 24/07.
