Model: CJ-6 DescriptionThis is a 1962 CJ6 that has undergone a complete restoration. This rarely seen jeep is called a "garage service jeep" and is shown in various early sales catalogs. Here are the details of the running gear: original 4 cylinder Hurricane 4 cylinder, T-98 granny low transmission, original dual wheel model 70 rear end, standard model 25 front end. When jeep built dual wheel models they normally had two different gear ratios front and rear and tried to make up for the difference with two different tire sizes on two different style rims. Originally there were 5.87 gears in the model 70 and 5.38 gears in the model 25 front. It didn't work out real well and a lot of duallys out there had broken gear sets. I have installed matching 4.88 gears front and rear and have used all the same rims and tires. Drives perfect with the 4.88's. There is a lot to tell in this short area so here are some things to look for. Ventilating windshield, overdrive, koenig twin stick shifter, front winch with NOS front push bumper, Quincy air compressor which runs off of the rear pto. Koenig rear wrecker assembly, etc...... Since the photos I have made some top bows and made a black canvas bikini top that extends the length of the vehicle. There is now a new "extend a bed" installed so you can actually carry something and easily remove it to get the wrecker working. Every last piece has been completely restored and will make a nice addition to the serious collectors inventory. Call or email anytime : I have a bunch more photos if anybody needs more. Thanks for looking. Brian |
