| Big Horn Jeep Jamboree 2009... | |
|
Wyoming has always been thought of and known for its wide open spaces, wildlife and scenic beauty. That combination is what prompted several places around the state to want to host a Jeep Jamboree and the decision was made to have one in the Big Horn Mountains just outside of the town of Sheridan, Wyoming. Bear Lodge at Burgess Junction was the site of the first Wyoming Jeep Jamboree. Bear Lodge sits at 8300 feet in elevation and is surrounded by National Forest and Wilderness area and has numerous areas for getting out on the trail in a Jeep and seeing some great scenery and wildlife. With plenty of options for trails there were plenty of routes for the stock vehicles as well as a modified class to get out, play, see the mountain and have a great weekend of wheeling. The weather couldn’t have been better and the accommodations were top notch! The owners of Bear Lodge, Rick and Roberta Young and their staff went out of their way to make sure that the 1st Jeep Jamboree held there would not only be a great one, but one that people would want to come back to. The lodge hosted a free concert both nights with 3 bands so the participants and locals could all have an evening of fun winding down the summer with a bash on the mountain. The Big Horn Mountain Jamboree in Wyoming has the potential of being one of the favorite jamborees held around the country since it has so much to offer and is held in such a great wilderness area. Some of the wildlife that was spotted out on the trail rides ranged from Rock and Wood Chucks to Red Tail Hawks, Elk, Deer, and even some Moose which provides Jeepers and other outdoor enthusiasts a reason to want to come out and play. In addition to the scenic setting, there are plenty of historical and spiritual places to visit such as the Ice Caves with its petro glyphs and carvings and the Medicine Wheel that is believed to have been constructed between 1,200 and 1,700 A.D. and is located at 9,642 ft above sea level. If you’re looking for another great Jeep Jamboree to attend you’ll defiantly want to add this one to your list of potential events to add to your “Bucket List”. If you’re looking for other outdoor activities and plan to go through Wyoming check into the Bear Lodge Resort for any of their summertime and winter activities from Horse back trail rides, Quad rides and wintertime snowmobiling guided trips at www.bearlodgeresort.com. |
