Rocky Mountain House Jeep Jamboree, Alberta 2005
Located in the eastern foothills of the Rockies, this Jamboree offers a variety of spectacular trails. Mountain climbs, muskeg bogs and forest runs. If you haven't been to this area you will be amazed at the variety and abundance of trails. There are trails for everything from stock Jeep Liberty's to trails that make the Rubicon look like a secondary road. It is like the Disneyland of off-roading with hundreds of miles of trails.
This year was similar to last in the sense that we had tons of rain prior to the Jamboree. The weather gods were once again on our side and we had sunny skies and 20-25C weather for both days. The trails were once again top notch with added challenges created from major floods in June. The floods had washed away many of the "easy routes" and forced us to maneuver over and around 2-3 foot deep trenches that had been created by run-off water.
Our first day was on a trail rated 8/10 and had a good mixture of mud, hills and river crossings. The second day we stuck with another 8 but this time the major challenges were long, steep hills coated with either mud or shale. There were also a few 3-5 foot vertical ledges to get the adrenalin running. We are already getting prepared and excited for next year!
